This is your reminder that comparison is the thief of joy! You were created to be different. You are called to be different. Stop wasting time focusing on everything you are not, and start focusing on everything that you are!

In my last blog, I was transparent about the spirit of comparison I was battling a few weeks ago. To sum it up, I began to do more research by checking out other blog sites that produced similar content,on and instead of being inspired, I got discouraged. Of course, I went to God about it and He taught me an entire lesson on how comparison can kill sooo many things He has promised me, if I let it. In the last blog I discussed how comparison can kill callings, confidence, and connections. I can only hope that each of you were able to take something away from that read and apply it to your everyday life. I know I was. Through my being transparent with God, He was able to make me aware of something that is so vital to acknowledge in our spiritual journeys with Him and as we live on this Earth.
I easily knew that my last blog would only be part 1 of a 2 part series on comparison. I invite you to read the last 2 things God showed me comparison could devour, if we are not careful.
Comparison Kills COMMITMENT/CONSISTENCY!
When you are constantly comparing the things God has called you to complete with the things you feel you should be completing or you have the desire to complete, committing becomes a hassle. We've all either gone through it personally or seen it before. You start that random business and it never seems to really get off the ground, or move forward in any form. In some cases, it is truly something that person is called to, however, it may be wrong timing. But in many cases, the business doesn't make progress because we get caught up in everything that we lack and will have to do in order to seem like we are further than where we are, instead of trusting the process of it all.
When you begin to think about what everyone else is doing, you lose the drive that you once had when God first gave you the idea. At the smallest challenge, or inconvenience you try and convince yourself that maybe it just isn't what you were called to do, but in fact it is. Your comparison just caused you to lose commitment. And once we lose commitment, it becomes a lack of consistency. God showed me that if I continued to put all that he has gifted me up against things in this world I wasn't called to, I would lose my fire for what I was created to do. He told me, I would begin to get lazy with it, (which actually happened) the value would decrease to me, it would become my chore as opposed to my passion. I had to make up in my mind that I would not let comparison take my commitment to this blog away from me. But even above that, my commitment to God that I would do the work he prepared for me. You have to do the same thing to. Don't forget your why. You are right where God wants you to be. And if you ever begin to feel lack, be sure to go to Him in prayer for guidance on what you need to do in order to press forward in what you are called to.
Don't allow what the world is doing, make you lose sight of what you're supposed to be doing. Comparison KILLS commitment and consistency, only IF you allow it to.
Comparison Kills COMPETENCE!
Believe it or not, when you get caught up in the lifestyle of comparison, you begin to lose competence. You become so accustomed to mimicking or imitating people, that you forget that you are also capable of great ideas, and creating amazing things. You may also have amazing ideas right in front of you that you can't see because you are so caught up in what is working for others. When we constantly move in comparison we lose those chances to receive those new ideas or thoughts God wants to download on the inside of us.
God wants us to walk in our callings so that he can sharpen our skills in what He has called us to. He cannot sharpen a skill set that you have built off the strength of someone else's journey. Inspiration is fine, gaining knowledge is encouraged, but you have to allow God to show you when and how to make the information you learn, your own. Allow Him the space and time to make you competent in the area He has prepared for you!
Don't allow comparison to kill your competence. Who cares how many people that are doing what it is He called you to do. Trust that He will give you the knowledge and understanding you will need to set yourself apart from the rest. Have faith in knowing that He will connect you with specific people, places and things that you are purposely meant to cross paths with.
Comparison KILLS competence. Make room for God to grow YOUR original ideas. Allow Him to expand your territory. Don't lose the opportunity to gain more knowledge in your own calling, focusing on learning more about someone else's!
Application
You have amazing things on the inside of you! You will make a difference! Your thoughts matter! Your struggles are noticed by God! There is a purpose in your process! God is with you! You were created to be exactly who you are! Your journey isn't meant to look like everyone else's! Nothing worth having comes easy! Rest in these things. Choose today to stop allowing comparison to overtake the great work God has placed inside of you. It's time to nurture and grow everything that has been given to YOU!
Prayer
Dear God, we thank you for the grace and mercy that you give us each and every day. We thank you for your constant love and protection. We ask today that you continue to guide us out of comparison. We rebuke the spirit of comparison in our callings, confidence, connections, commitment, consistency, and competence in Jesus name. We ask that you continue to strengthen us on our journeys to and through our callings. God we ask that you breathe the breath of life into our ideas, our hopes, and our dreams. Give us direction in a way that we constantly align ourselves with you! We thank you for killing the spirit of comparison that may try and attach itself to us in any way, shape or form. If we are made in your image, what could we possibly lack? We thank you for all that you have done, all that you are doing and all that you are going to do. I ask that you continue to cover and keep Hidden Treasures as we continue to Heal, Evolve, and Rise together! AMEN!
