Recognizing or walking in God's purpose for your life has to be one of the most liberating feelings you will ever experience. Everything starts to make sense, you gain a different kind of confidence, and you begin to look at the things you've gone through from a whole new perspective.
With that being said, recently, I came to the realization that the peace you gain from walking in your purpose or calling is only the beginning stage of a long journey packed with so many layers. I'm learning that doing what you were created to do, and being who you were created to be takes faith, grace, patience, and WORK! And the lesson being featured in this stage of my story is, "Resisting The Resistance."

The dictionary definition of resistance is, "The refusal to accept and comply with something or the attempt to prevent something from happening by action or argument." A little resistance can go a longgg way. And if we are not careful resistance can be detrimental to our progress in life.
Over the last month, God has been training me up to be in a position where I can recognize when I begin to resist things He is calling me to, understand why I feel the need to resist, and be strong enough to fight back. I love lessons like these, because they are life long teachings that I get to exercise and practice for as long as I live.
God gave me revelation on resistance through the story of Jonah in the Bible. In a nutshell, God gave Jonah an assignment that called him to go and speak to an evil group of people and preach grace, mercy, and repentance. Jonah was not feeling this task God had given him. He didn't feel like they deserved a second chance. He decided to fold under his resistance and run away from what he was called to do. Upon running away, Jonah was thrown overboard on a ship, swallowed by a large fish, and spit up on a shore that was a longgg way from the land he was called to speak to. All of these events stem from Jonah's inability to "Resist the Resistance."Looking back over the month of July, I have no choice but to give all honor to God. He literally rescued me from myself! Not only did He reveal to me the resistance I have towards my calling, but, He also gave me some helpful tools to assist me when I'm faced with resistance going forward. It's my prayer that you guys find value in these tips and are able to apply them when you are facing resistance in your own lives.
"And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns." - Philippians 1:6 (NLT)
Recognize, Understand, FIGHT!
The first thing God showed me was that the main ingredient to combating resistance was recognizing that I was resisting to begin with. If I'm being honest sometimes it's hard for us to identify spirits we are wrestling with when we are in the midst of the fight. But, it becomes easier the more we know God and the closer we are to Him. This whole process showed me that my relationship with God needed some work. I needed to make some improvements because someone who wholeheartedly trusts God and knows that He makes no mistakes when He calls us to things would have a better reaction then to run. God showed me that when I trust in Him and trust in what He has placed inside of me, no task is too big!
The second thing God wanted me to do was seek Him in order to understand my resistance. Once you recognize you are resisting an assignment from God, it's important to know why. He showed me that knowing why plays a vital role in killing disobedience and fear. When you gain knowledge and understanding on what has led you to resist you can speak to that spirit directly and seek deliverance from God. When you seek after God and you get that understanding, that's when He is able to give you revelation on where your fear to go forward comes from.
The last thing God told me to do was to fight back and resist the resistance. He showed me that any time you are doing a great work for the Lord, there will be resistance. Something pushing you to do the opposite of what God has called you to. You have to take your recognition and understanding of the resistance and FIGHT! And the beauty in it, is when you make room for Him, He will be right there to fight with you! In the spirit God showed me a game of tug of war. You are on one side and the adversary is on the other. Do not allow the enemy to pull you so hard you look up and find yourself in a territory you were never meant to be in like Jonah. You have to tap into the power and authority God placed on the inside of you and fight!
Application
It is my hope that after reading this blog, you are in a space where you are ready to clap back at all of the things sent to destroy you. I pray that you ask God to lead you in the direction of recognizing that you feel resistance, understanding where the resistance coming from is and then asking Him to help you FIGHT! There is so much on the other side if we just trust in God and answer His call with a yes in our hearts. The Bible tells us that many are called, but few are chosen. If you know that you are chosen, it is your reasonable service to give God your yes.
Prayer
Dear God, I come to you as humbly as I know how. Before asking you for anything, Lord we just want to say thank you for everything! Lord I thank you for each reader on this site and I ask that you would anoint us afresh right now. God I ask that in this moment Lord you kill the spirits of resistance that try to hover over our lives. Lord God I ask that you would help us to recognize when we are fighting our calling God, that you would help us understand why and then I ask that you fight with us Lord. Give us the strength to endure and finish the work that you have started within us. God Lord I ask that you bless Hidden Treasures and that you guide and cover us on our journey as we continue to Heal, Evolve, and Rise together! AMEN!
